Two new omicron variants are spreading in N.Y. and elsewhere. Here's what we know

The variants — BA.2.12.1 and BA2.12.2 — have been detected in New York and different states in addition to 5 different international locations. One has a mutation that appears to present it an edge in evading the immune system.
